This winter try these award-winning Irish whiskies

1.Celtic Cask 1999 – Tríocha a Cúig – 35

Double distilled in the Republic of Ireland, this Irish whiskey was initially matured in a first-fill bourbon cask for 18 years before being partly decanted in March 2018 for a further period of maturation in an old 125-litre solera sherry cask that previously matured Oloroso sherry.

2.Dunvilles 12-Year-Old PX Cask Strength

The second offering from Dunville’s Cask Strength expression is the award-winning 12-Year-Old PX whiskey. The intensity of those candied citrus sweets, apple strudel, crème brûlée, dark stone fruits and Christmas spices is immense because of the PX oak cask influences.

3.Gelston’s 15-Year-Old Sherry Cask

Samuel Gelston’s 15-Year-Old Single Malt is a rare bottling of single malt matured initially for a minimum of 14 years in ex-bourbon and then matured for a further 2 years in ex-Sherry hogs (Oloroso). A wonderfully rich, fruity and indulgent whiskey, it bagged the winner’s medal in the Single Malt 12-15 Years Old category at the Irish Whiskey Awards 2021.
